APPEARANCE Camille was turned at the age of 28 and retains that appearance. She only stands 5'4", but she moves graceful in heels, like a predator. Her dark hair cascades down to nearly her waist and her dark eyes are always heavily lined with dark colors. Her lips are painted a blood red. While her natural skin tone is darker, it's pale in color, like all of her people. Her nails are painted and long like talons. Her French accent has long since worn off, and centuries of living in New York has given her a more generic American sound. PERSONALITY Camille is a woman who gets what she wants, by any means necessary. She is manipulative and cunning, capable of turning words into daggers that cut at the heart. Little nicks that bleed you dry or great gashes that take your knees out from under you. She's smooth like dark honey, pretending at sweetness when she needs to, but underneath is a bitter soul. There's no longer any soft spots to Camille. She has lived for too many years and grown too jaded to allow for such nonsense. People are toys for her to play with and then toss aside when she's done with them. None have been able to touch her heart. Not even her own people appeal to her. She keeps them happy to keep herself in power, takes care of them because they support her, but she will endanger and turn on them at the first sign of trouble. If there's one thing to admire about Camille, it's her tenacity. She refuses to let go of what she wants, or the means of getting it. And for her, that's power, in any shape or form that's readily available. She is a survivor and will always find a way to come out on top.

ABOUT Camille Belcourt is a centuries old vampire and former leader of the New York clan of vampires. She is roughly 750 years old, born in the mid-1200s in France. In the mid-1800s, she began a relationship with Magnus Bane and broke his heart. This isn't important to her, only to Magnus. But because of Magnus' power, she still holds interest in him. In 2016, in addition to kidnapping him, Camille turned then-mundane Simon Lewis into a vampire, breaking the Accords. She was overthrown as leader of the clan by Raphael Santiago, and was consequently briefly locked up in a coffin, to be kept there indefinitely. Clary Fairchild and Simon Lewis freed her in an effort to recover the Book of the White, which Camille had acquired from Jocelyn Fairchild (through her intermediary Dot Rollins) in previous years. In exchange, she demanded a Writ of Transmutation, which signified that Simon had asked to be turned and alleviated Camille of all wrongdoing. Without a clan to keep her busy or in line, Camille took to fostering vampire dens throughout the city of New York, breaking the Accords wherever she went. Dozens died, including children. In no time at all, she garnered the attention of the new Head of the New York Institute, Victor Aldertree, who in turn threatened the new clan leader, Raphael Santiago, with torture should he not turn over Camille. Santiago appealed to Bane, who ultimately sent Camille away to prison in Idris. ABILITIES → Encanto: The encanto is the unique ability of vampires to almost hypnotically convince other humans of almost anything and to persuade them into doing almost thing they're told. The use of soothing voices and prolonged eye contact on their victims contributes to the success of the encanto. → Static: With a snap of her fingers, Camille can render a human being static and immobile. The victim does not seem aware of what has happened to them. If frozen mid-sentence, at the next signal, the person will continue on as if nothing had stopped them. → Blood Sense: Camille can sniff out blood and determine its species origin (werewolf, seelie, mundane, Shadowhunter) at a distance. The beating of a heart and the blood in veins is also exaggerated to them. → Super Speed: Vampires move in a blur that is nearly imperceptible to the human eye.
